On July 13, 2019, PaSy Dance Company and Studio at 550 will be holding the second Cambridge Teranga (Together) Children’s Festival, a public festival for the children and families of the Boston-Cambridge-Somerville area. The Festival features Senegalese dance classes taught by local Cambridge dancers and teachers. In addition to movement, the classes teach music, history, and significance of the dances, in the style of a village-centered storytelling experience. The Festival brings together West African artists, drummers, dancers, and the children of the Boston-Cambridge-Somerville area in a celebration of diversity, dance, and community.
The Teranga Children’s Festival will be held in University Park in Central Square, Cambridge on July 13th from 12 – 4 PM. The festival is completely free to attend.
The first set of children’s classes will begin at 12 PM, and the second set will begin at 2 PM. The first 50 children to arrive will receive a free t-shirt to commemorate the festival!
